This afternoon I returned to the Archives to look at photographs of and associated with Sir Robert Muir. There were over 70 photographs related to Muir, making it an interesting exercise to look through them all - they certainly gave me more of a sense of his life. Throughout his lif ehe had many portraits taken, and I have only recorded the ones most relevant to my project on the website. The image that I found most interesting was of a young Muir, in a lab or dispensary:

I found this image most interesting because the laboratory simply looks nothing like its equivalent today. I wonder what was in all the glass bottles, and what was the glass cloche on the left for?

As with anybodies photographs it is interesting to see people change with the passage of time, and some of the pictures offered a peek at Muirs private life, like this one below, of Muir relaxing on a garden swing.

All in all, the afternoon served to increase my interest in Muir, and I will try to use as many of the photographs as possible on this website.
